This site is about sharing lessons with fellow techs, be they technical lessons, technical management learnings or just opinions concerning the role of all things tech in the modern business.
I’ve been working in tech for around 10 years, but I’ve been into tech for as long as I can remember. I wrote my first program when I was 10. It was in Basic on a BBC Basic and it went something like this:
10 print "I love Sarah B." 20 goto 10
I’ll leave the really smart techs amongst you to figure out what it did…
Every year of my career has been different and challenging in many ways. I’ve set up an IT department where none existed, been Tech Lead and Development Manager in an enormously fast-paced and mega award-winning email marketing agency, been a “proper” Project Manager with a multinational and now I’m the CTO of one of the UK’s leading SaaS products. Along the way I’ve picked up an MBA, PRINCE2 2005 and 2009 and worked with various flavours of Scrum and other methodologies. Some that worked, many that didn’t.
The best bit about my career is, I know I’ve only scratched the surface of what there is to learn…
I hope you enjoy the blog.
Tim
